Video xBlock is an extension to Open edX which allows to securely deliver video content via web and mobile, through number of different video hostings and using different useful options that are vital for online courses delivery nowadays
The New Open edX Video Xblock Concept
1Various hosting options
Video xBlock needed to be able to display videos that are hosted on different platforms (Youtube, Wistia, Vimeo...). Basically in ideal situation one should just paste the link and that's all
2Replicate standard Video xBlock functionality
The task was to make New Video xBlock look and feel almost identical to the original one: speed controls, downloadable handouts, ability to jump on different parts of a video using transcript etc.
The New Video xBlock needed to be able to add transcripts using different options to make this task comfortable for instructors
Native Video xBlock Functionalities
The New Video xBlock looks and feels as a standard one.
Speed adjustments, Transcript navigation, Handouts - everything is in place
