We went to Paris 🇲🇫 — and we brought the raccoons. From July 1 to 4, Raccoon Gang joined global e-learning professionals at the Open edX Conference 2025, co-hosted with EMOOCs at Télécom Paris.

The event brought together educators, developers, researchers, and platform providers from across the world. Sessions focused on AI in learning, accessibility, mobile platforms, and real-world case studies that addressed critical challenges in education technology.

We proudly took part as both sponsors and speakers. Our team members presented insights drawn from years of hands-on experience building and supporting Open edX platforms for customers worldwide.

Open edX Mobile Update

Inside the Future of Open edX Mobile

First on the speaker list was Volodymyr Chekyrta, our Mobile Team Lead. He’s the mind behind the Open edX mobile experiences we’ve worked hard to refine.

At the conference, Volodymyr delivered “Open edX Mobile Update,” where he shared the latest improvements, outlined technical hurdles, and mapped out what’s ahead for Open edX mobile apps.

His talk was a must for anyone working on edX-based mobile apps. Volodymyr focused on practical decisions. → Learn more about the Open edX Mobile App

Turning Support Into Satisfaction

Next up was Yana Lovyagina, our Head of Support. She’s the person who turns user problems into platform improvements.

Yana presented “Let’s Make the Open edX Users Happy Together!”, a talk rooted in real support tickets, feedback loops, and lessons from long-term client collaboration.

She explored how support teams shape the learner experience and what small changes can mean for user satisfaction. It was a down-to-earth, honest session that resonated with both technical and non-technical attendees. → Learn more about Open edX technical support

Co-founder of the company Raccoon Gang Sergiy Movchan gives a speech

From LMS to Ecosystem

Also taking the stage was our co-founder, Sergiy Movchan, who currently leads large-scale Open edX initiatives across Ukraine’s education sector.

In his session, “From LMS to Ecosystem: Building an Educational Marketplace for OeX,” Sergiy challenged traditional LMS models. He shared how marketplace-driven thinking could reshape platform design and long-term strategy.

His talk opened the door to conversations about modularity, interoperability, and scaling Open edX for broader institutional goals. → Learn more about the LMS ecosystem in other materials from Sergiy

Day 1 – A Strong Start in Paris

The conference opened with a strong start. Day one set the tone with packed rooms, thoughtful questions, and fresh perspectives on the future of learning technology.

Our raccoon team was ready from the start — bright green flag, helpful answers, and plenty of ideas to share. Attendees explored AI in education, accessibility innovation, and the business side of platform sustainability.

It was clear from day one: this was a space for people solving real problems, not just sharing theory.

Day 2 – Ideas, Coffee, and Conversations

☕ By day two, the energy had only grown. Conversations happened in sessions, hallways, and over coffee — and sometimes all three at once.

Workshops on generative AI, chatbot integrations, and inclusive learning tools stood out. These weren’t abstract demos. Presenters shared real implementations and lessons from the field.

We spent the day learning, exchanging ideas, and answering questions from educators, developers, and decision-makers. These conversations made the event more than just a conference — they made it a collaborative experience.

Day 3 – Raccoons on the Mic

Day three was our big one. Three of our team members presented back-to-back sessions to a packed and engaged crowd.

Volodymyr Chekyrta joined Marco Morales and Edward Byun to present “Open edX Mobile Update,” giving a clear view of how mobile learning on the platform is evolving.

Sergiy Movchan’s “From LMS to Ecosystem” expanded the conversation around Open edX use cases, sparking ideas about the platform’s role in national and institutional learning systems.

Yana Lovyagina wrapped it up with “Let’s Make the Open edX Users Happy Together!” — a crowd favorite filled with insights from the support trenches.

The Open edX Distinguished Contributor Program

Day 4 – Wrapping Up, But Not Slowing Down

The final day came quickly, but it didn’t feel like the end. Sessions continued, and meaningful conversations carried on over coffee, lunch, and hallway meetups.

On this day, the State of Open edX was also held, where our BizDev Lead, Natalia Vynohradenko, joined Vineet Manuja, Eden Huthmacher, and Mahnoor Sarwat to present the Open edX Distinguished Contributor Program.

The program recognizes excellence in key areas, from engineering and advocacy to innovative ideas and mission-aligned leadership, and features two main tracks: one for individuals and another for organizations. It’s a meaningful way to spotlight the people and teams shaping the future of Open edX.

The program includes two main tracks:

  1. Individual Track: Distinguished Engineers, Distinguished Advocates (Evangelists), Distinguished Innovators, Rising Stars.
  2. Organization Track: Distinguished Partners, Distinguished Mission-Aligned Leaders.

Our raccoons spent the day reconnecting with people who had attended our talks, following up on technical questions, and simply saying thanks.

Whether you asked a question, came to a session, or waved from across the room — we appreciate every moment.
